In most cases insect stings will not result in an allergic reaction and will only result in local pain, itching, redness & swelling.It is not unusual for one person to react more than someone else, and this will often depend on the person, the kind of bee and the location of the sting.This kind of reaction can usually be treated from home or hospital.To assist with the pain and the swelling, there are a few things you can do.

You should first sterilize the area, keep it clean, and ice id needed.Reduction of the swelling and the pain may be alleviated by the use of more medication.Antibiotics may need to be issued by a doctor if the site bocomes infected.Some non-allergic reactions can last for a number of days.This is not usually a cause for concern, and should be treated as mentioned above or as recommended by your doctor.
A person can have an allergic reaction from some bee stings.Depending on the person, an insect sting will cause a different reation.One serious problem which can be fatal is anaphylaxis.An allergic reaction may be indicated by swelling of the tongue, hives, intense itching, dizziness and fainting.Usually these kinds of reactons will occur within minutes of the bee sting, but some can occur up to twenty-four hours later.An allergic response to bee stings should be treated very fast.
Bee stings in children should be taken very seriously.Itching or burning on your childs body can often be caused by a bee sting, and should be checked.There are several ointments available from your local chemist that will help treat bee stings.To ensure that a child dose not have a severe allergic reaction to a bee sting, it is imperative that any sting is treated straight away.
It is always a good idea to keep an eye on a bee sting for an allergic reaction, even though they are often harmless.
